WE06 High Performance Building Enclosures HSW
05/14/2008, 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Learning Units: 3.75-Advanced level

Training Units: 0.9375-Training Area 7 (Design Development)

In this interactive session, we'll discuss the challenges associated with enclosure design and explore some strategies for moving us into the future toward net zero energy buildings. Examine the science of heat transfer, moisture movement and control, and air movement in enclosure assemblies. Apply the knowledge to design effective moisture and infiltration control measures and applications that will result in higher performance buildings.

Learning Objectives:
  • Design high performance building enclosures that are energy efficient and durable and control heat, air, and moisture
  • Analyze the building science behind these advanced concepts and select materials and systems necessary in the design for air pressure control in different climates
  • Compare the detail design for infiltration control in different climates
Speakers: Wagdy Anis, FAIA, LEED AP, and Vincent Cammalleri, AIA, PE

Providers: Building Enclosure Technology and Environment Council: Oak Ridge National Laboratory, U.S. Department of Energy; and National Institute of Building Sciences
