TH35 You Make the Call: Preposterous Practices by Peers HSW
05/15/2008, 2:00 PM - 3:30 PM

Learning Units: 1.50-Intermediate level

Training Units: 0.375-Training Area 15 (Office Management)

"That never happens to me" are famous last words. Don't architects always make sound professional and business judgments? There are occasional missteps, and sometimes blunders of huge proportion, often resulting from a misunderstanding of the driest arcana in the AIA's mountain of information-the Code of Ethics. Members of the National Ethics Council will tell five "war stories" hypothesized from real-world experiences. You'll judge and learn from someone else's mistake.

Learning Objectives:
  • Review the AIA Code of Ethics, highlighting the general scope of the code and the process of complaint, hearing, and adjudication
  • Discuss the ethical and legal issues in practice within the five Canons of the Code
  • Discuss, by way of the five tailored examples, how architects may practice more ethically and encourage such behavior from their peers and employees
Speakers: Janet Donelson, FAIA, and Michael L. Prifti, FAIA

Provider: AIA National Ethics Council
