Through powerful narratives, architects can strategically change the conversation about architecture from primarily economics and regulations to focus on sustainable, quality design that connects with clients and the public. To capture attention and persuade, participants will link architecture and language using numerous examples and practicing with small vignettes. Strategic frames of identity, public/private, power, sacredness, and nature as critical themes will be explored.
Learning Objectives:
- Recognize themes in narratives and metaphors using images and words
- Outline narrative approaches that are vivid and useful for different project types
- Analyze and adjust design concepts for more meaningful, powerful narratives
