PA00 Public Architects Training Workshop
05/14/2008, 8:00 AM - 5:30 PM

Learning Units: 6.75-Intermediate level

Training Units: 1.6875-Training Area 14 (Project Management)

Join other public-sector architects from all levels of government to discuss public architecture business and practice.

More than one-third of the nation's annual construction and more than one-third of firm billings comprise public architecture. Public architects are the "owners" for billions of dollars spent on the built environment. Charged with protecting and advancing the public trust, public architects are accountable for not only the funding but also the effect their decisions have on future generations. Because of the resources for which they are accountable, public architects are often in the forefront of the design profession, leading by example. Project planning and delivery, security and safety, and community influence are some of the mechanisms for public architect leadership.

The Public Architects Training Workshop will explore the roles and leadership responsibilities of public architects in these important areas, as well as some of the latest ideas and developments in public architecture. After the workshop, you are invited to join the AIA National Convention and Expo for more learning and networking opportunities. Visit www.aiaconvention.com for information on tracks, plenary sessions, and HSW qualification. Lunch is included.
