Architects play an essential role in solving the most pressing issues of our time through proactive leadership and by demonstrating the value they bring to society, the consumers for whom these issues are critical. Ultimate value, however, comes from taking responsibility for broader social issues as architects form the urban landscape and the buildings that shape them. This session will move the profession from a position of best value to added value.
Learning Objectives:
- Define what creates added value in the minds of architectural consumers in the urban public realm of commercial, institutional, and government projects
- Identify how projects with added value address critical social issues and influence the architectural consumer in each of these arenas
- Create a plan of action for demonstrating and communicating the added value of the profession to clients and the general public across all project scales
Speakers: Carol Ross Barney, FAIA; Yolanda Cole, AIA, IIDA, LEED AP; Joan E. Goody, FAIA
