TH81 Housing Trends of the 21st-Century Campus: Addressing Today's Student Expectations HSW
05/15/2008, 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM

Learning Units: 1.00-Intermediate level

Training Units: 0.25-Training Area 1 (Programming)

Today students attend college and universities with new expectations in housing that greatly differ from the living options institutions have offered in the past 40 years. Schools have intensified efforts to strengthen their residential communities and educational experience by upgrading and building new housing facilities. Housing officials have asked architects to respond to the voice of this generation of students so their campuses can better compete for students and shape their experience.

Learning Objectives:
  • Describe expectations of today's students
  • Realize trends in campus housing
  • Discover how design can respond to campus housing
