E11 Building Enclosure Council Breakfast and Lecture
05/15/2008, 7:00 AM - 8:00 AM

Building Enclosure (Envelope) Councils (BECs) started in Canada 16 years ago. They are diverse in membership and promote cross-disciplinary and cross-responsibility dialogue, laterally between professions and vertically between designers, manufacturers, suppliers, fabricators, constructors, building operators, developers, and insurers. They actively promote and encourage discussion, training, education, technology transfer, and the exchange of information about local issues and cases, relevant weather conditions, and all matters concerning the building enclosure and the related science. We will start by reviewing the Canadian precedent, describing how they work in Canada. The AIA and BETEC alliance that formed the BECs will then be described, as will the roles of each organization and the local chapters. The next steps and the potential of this network in local, national, and international collaborations will be explored. Attendees will be engaged in a discussion inviting action in this vital practice area.

E11 Thursday, 7-8 a.m., $35
