CONTINUING EDUCATION FOR EMERGING PROFESSIONALS

EMERGING PROFESSIONALS
Young architects and associate members are setting the stage for the future of the architecture profession. The AIA 2008 National Convention is a great opportunity to take advantage of excellent education programs for the Intern Development Program (IDP) or continuing education credit, connect with seasoned professionals and mentors, and network with your fellow emerging professionals. Look for the programs specially designed just for you.

How to Pass the ARE
Individuals who have not passed all sections of the ARE 3.1 by June 30, 2009, will be transitioned into ARE 4.0. If you’ve already started taking the ARE 3.1, now is the time to finish. The ARE 4.0 will launch in July 2008 and all test candidates who did not start the ARE 3.1 by May 2008 will be transitioned to the 4.0 version. Packed into three intense days, participate in prep classes for all nine sections of the ARE 3.1 exam or all seven sections of the ARE 4.0 exam.We will identify approaches to answering questions in each section of the exam, describe the layout of the exam and its sections, and apply information and techniques learned in the session toward taking the exam. Meet other candidates and learn from some of the best ARE prep instructors in the country as you prepare to pass the ARE. For information on the ARE transition, visit the National Council of Architectural Registration Board’s Web site, www.ncarb.org

IDP TRAINING UNITS
Interns enrolled in the Intern Development Program (IDP) can gain supplementary education credit for attending AIA continuing education programs. In fact, interns earn credit at a rate of .25 training units for every hour spent in the classroom, equivalent to two hours of credit for every one hour of learning. The AIA wants to support you on the path to licensure and has made it even easier for you to select programs that are geared for your IDP training needs. Just look for the IDP Training Unit information on each program for more details about how much credit and in which training area you can earn IDP credit.
