WE09 Designing a Regenerative Hospital: An Imperative for the 21st Century HSW

Can we transform todays healing environments to living buildings? Can we heal the earth as we heal ourselves? This half-day workshop will examine just these questions as participants engage in visioning a health care architecture that goes beyond today's practice to define a strategic vision of the hospital as a "living building." Faculty will present current worldwide case studies as well as facilitate thought-provoking exercises to develop principles and practices to inform future designs.

Learning Objectives:
  • Describe the concepts of sustainability and living buildings as applied to health care settings
  • Relay specific principles for the design of living buildings for health care settings
  • Apply specific sustainable design strategies to your projects, based upon case study examples presented in the workshop
