TH02 Legally Green: Legal and Practice Issues of LEED HSW
05/15/2008, 7:00 AM - 8:00 AM

Learning Units: 1.00-Advanced level

Training Units: 0.25-Training Area 11 (Bidding and Contract Negotiation)

Going Green is perhaps the strongest movement in architecture today. Cities and states are passing laws that mandate certain types of projects achieve LEED certification or meet other sustainable design criteria. This is great for the environment but does this have any impact on the legal liability of architects or their clients? This program will discuss the LEED criteria and new legislation with a focus on contracts, the standard of care, insurance, and practice management issues.

Learning Objectives:
  • Identify legal issues in performance criteria or contracts for sustainable design
  • Evaluate risks and protect your firm and your clients on LEED projects
  • Take proactive steps to achieve LEED certification, while not risking an uninsured loss
Speakers: Betsy del Monte, AIA, LEED AP, and William Quatman, Esq., FAIA

Provider: AIA Trust
