Public buildings are a vital part of cities. They are economic engines that provide social and professional infrastructure of America's urban centers. This discussion explores how public buildings are a symbolic and essential part of communities, the evolution of that presence, and how public buildings contribute to cities beyond their functions. Discuss how to maintain public support for excellence, achieve a balance between pride of place and perception of excess, and apply performance metrics.
