| TP20b Beacon Hill Highlights: A Walking Tour of Historic Sites HSW 05/14/2008, 2:15 PM - 4:45 PM Learning Units: 2.00-Walking Tour Training Units: 0.50-Training Area 17 (Historic Restoration) The Beacon Hill neighborhood offers an observer everything from stately residential architecture to a heritage of mystery. Beginning at the State House, this tour focuses on distant past events, real and otherwise, that have occurred on the adjacent Boston Common and behind the highly regarded façades of these homes. The tour includes stops primarily on the south slope of the hill off Beacon Street and concludes within two blocks of the State House. From the golden dome of the State House to the elegant homes of Louisburg Square, this tour offers examples of the work of Charles Bulfinch and his followers. The tour will trace the evolution of a neighborhood from rugged hilly pastureland to a lovely, residential area with its historic collection of Federal and Greek Revival row houses.
