TH10 Negotiating a Green Mindset
05/15/2008, 7:00 AM - 8:00 AM

Learning Units: 1.00-Intermediate level

Training Units: 0.00-Training Area N/A

Green building, like many innovations, encounters resistance from a variety of quarters. People tend to reject new concepts and ways of doing things offhand because of concerns, assumptions, fears, or misconceptions. These reactions to new ideas, or "mindsets," color their reactions and willingness to embrace new behaviors or approaches. Mindset affects perceptions of cost, process, roles, and expectations. This workshop gives people skills, tools, and strategies to overcome mindset challenges.

Learning Objectives:
  • Review basic negotiation skills such as active listening, inquiry, advocacy and interest-based dialogue
  • Build on the basic skills and review how to interpret and apply those negotiation skills to a variety of scenarios and with different parties in different contexts
  • Develop a heightened awareness of your own natural skills and internal barriers and discover tricks to control your reactions in specific situations to ensure success and continuous growth
Speakers: Barbra Batshalom, LEED AP, and Moshe Cohen
