AIA CONVENTION YOUNG PROFESSIONALS SCHOLARSHIPS The deadline for scholarships closed on February 22, 2008. We look forward to welcoming all of our scholarship recipients to Boston. AIA 2008 President Marshall Purnell, FAIA, has designated the Boston convention as the moment for "We the People." To underscore that conviction, this new program, developed by the Boston Society of Architects in cooperation with the AIA 2008 Convention, is designed to support young professionals who would otherwise not be able to attend. The goal is to encourage firms, schools, AIA components, and others to support the participation of students and young professionals through direct travel assistance or by supporting the AIA Convention Young Professionals Scholarship Fund.  In addition, AIA headquarters is committed to providing complimentary convention registration for scholarship recipients. Travel scholarships up to $500 may be awarded to 100 or more individuals. Individuals who receive travel scholarships will also receive a complimentary convention registration (preconvention workshops, tours, and events are priced separately ). In addition all firms, schools, and AIA components are encouraged to cover expenses for at least one young professional. The BSA is contributing $50,000 and it is anticipated that an additional $50,000 or more will be raised through sponsorships.
